Down Div1 Bredagh Seniors 8:30 Vs Warrenpoint 0:10
Another excellent win for Bredagh senior hurlers in Cherryvale last night. After a sluggish start they soon got into there stride kept the scoreboard operator busy posting some brilliant scores. The visiting forwards found chances difficult against a solid Bredagh defence with Matt McAreavey Oran McFlynn and Aaron Carey forming a formidable half back line. Joe Hanrahan and Mark Patterson controlled the play from midfield with their probing runs and score taking.
The forwards with a plentiful supply of ball ran up an incredible score with veteran Eoghan Donnelly, Ronan Costello and Sean Hughes topping the scoring charts. Eoghan scored a peach of a goal in the second half volleying home from a smart pass from Ronan.
Warrenpoint played their part and battled hard to the end but had no answer to the firepower of this Bredagh team. There will be tougher days ahead and the work must continue. Well done!

Down Div 2 Castlewellan 0:12 VÂ Bredagh Senior Reserves 5:18
Super result for senior reserves against a dogged Castlewellan side. Castlewellan jumped out of the starting blocks to go 0-4 to 0-0, and probably had the better of the first quarter. However second quarter was a different story. Pin point pucks from Aaron Maguire to hard hitting half forwards Colin Lordan and Ryan Curran meant the speed merchant Michael Napier could pick up breaking ball ably assisted by midfield Joe McKee and Man of Match Niall Irwin.
The defence dominated the second quarter which enabled the half backs of Lawrence Smyth, Tiarnan Sheehan and Evin Maguire to pick their passes to the forwards. The full backs Conn Mac Farlane, Kaelan Power and Fintan McCollum snuffed our any Castlewellan attack and were superb throughout the game.
Bredagh finished the half 3-12 to 0-6 and Castlewellan were glad of the break from the controlling full forwards Jamie Curran, Matt (Messi) McAfee and Eoghan Curran. The home side fought back in the third quarter which ended all square and the reserves finished with a flurry of goals in the last quarter to kill the game. Well done!!
